Job Requirements

Key requirements include:

Rights to work: EU Passport or applicable Visa

Experience: Minimum of 4 years’ experience in professional kitchens (chalet experience is a plus)

Skills: Strong communication, team-working abilities, and adaptability. You must be self-motivated and able to manage your time effectively

Driving: You must have a valid driver’s licence and be comfortable driving in mountain conditions (for weekly shopping trips and errands)

Age: No age restriction, but applicants under 24 are unlikely to have the required experience

Language: Spoken French is not required, but it’s an advantage

Personality: We’re looking for someone friendly, with a good sense of humour, who enjoys interacting with guests and being part of a close-knit team. Adaptability, enthusiasm, and the ability to stay upbeat even when tired are essential

Roles & Responsibilities

You’ll be part of our two-person chalet team, working alongside the Chalet Manager, who handles front-of-house duties and guest driving. You’ll have full ownership of the kitchen and will be responsible for all things food, catering to around 16 guests per week (occasionally up to 20). This role is ideal for someone who’s ready to take the lead in the kitchen and enjoys creating high-quality, flavorful dishes.

Key responsibilities include:

Designing and planning a menu for 5 nights a week
(adapting to dietary requirements as needed)
Cooking 5 days per week:
Cooked breakfasts
Baking daily cakes
Evening canapés
3-course evening meal
When required, an earlier children’s tea
Managing weekly stock orders and driving to the local supermarket for a weekly shop
Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and storage areas, including weekly deep cleaning
Washing up
Assisting with other chalet duties as needed, including chalet cleaning and changeover duties on busy days

Guest Interaction:
The intimate dining area connects to the kitchen, so you’ll need to be comfortable interacting with guests while preparing meals. Our guests are often long-time returnees, so your ability to engage with them and provide a warm, personal experience is key. This is a role for someone who can multitask—cooking, chatting, and ensuring everything runs smoothly!

What We're Looking For:

Seasonal work is demanding but very rewarding, so we’re looking for someone who can maintain excellent service, friendliness, flexibility, and still have fun even during busy times.

Why Work With Us?

Our guests return year after year, and we often know what to expect from each group. This creates a friendly, welcoming environment where creativity and personal touches are valued. You’ll have the freedom to design your own menus and showcase your culinary flair, making this a fantastic opportunity to run your own kitchen.
Working hours are primarily in the early morning and late afternoon/evening, leaving you with plenty of time to enjoy skiing or snowboarding. We value work-life balance and will plan your schedule to ensure you can make the most of your time in the mountains.
